PLANTING DESIGN & PLANT SOURCING

Annie has a real passion for planting design and has worked on the planting design for a vast array of gardens, from small town gardens to large grand estates. ​The process is guided by the clients requirements but typically involves:

  • an initial consultation

  • determination of the client brief/requirements - this is partly worked out by phone but also through a 'concept look book.' 

  • Once overall aesthetic and feel of the planting has been determined a palette of different plants is determined and a planting plan is drawn up, with a schedule/list of all the required plants and sizes which can be used to determine availability from trade plant nurseries. 

  • Annie can help to find appropriate gardeners as required and be on site to oversee the preparation of the ground, setting out of plants and assist with planting.​

  • Annie has links to a wide array of specialist plant nurseries, with whom she has trade accounts. She can aid you with a garden consultation to determine plants which would thrive in your space and help to source and lay out the planting to ensure you garden is as stunning as you would like!​​

We were introduced to Annie mid-way through a large house renovation and extensive works to our garden.  This was at the point of some difficulty as our previous landscaper let us down, the work was well behind and the topography itself was very challenging as a result of the house and garden being set on a steep slope, nestled against a woodland with challenging variations in lighting.  Annie took this work on with relish and the outstanding results are a testament to her creativity, professional diligence, as well as a healthy balance of expert personal views balanced against a complex set of demands.  During the design phase, her proposals were invariably highly creative, well-articulated and with a healthy diversity of choice for us, her clients.  She was deeply engaged throughout this process, patient with our questions and applied the right amount of guidance throughout.  The outcome is nothing short of spectacular, already in the first season, with a fine balance of colours, textures and movement surrounding our house.  This was important to us given the size of our windows and effect of bringing the garden into our living space.  We could not be happier with the outcome, nor with the journey Annie guided us on.
